Our new radiator for the ktichen turned up this morning. It was quite lucky that we were both running a little bit late as there would have been nobody in to take delivery otherwise.

Here is a reference picture from the Stelrad brochure.

We chose this rad as although it is a standard dual panel radiator it looks a little bit funkier than a normal rad due to it’s flat service. The main advantage is that it only costs slightly more than a normal rad which is way less than a designer one.

Just so you know the next and final scan is this monday.

After a comment by my brother asking what colour we will painting the walls I thought I’d share the colour scheme with you all.

The floor will be a light creamy grey colour – see pic below

The units will be solid walnut – see pic below

The worktops are a standard matt black laminated worktop with 100mm upstands acting as a splashback.

The walls and ceiling are going to be painted magnolia to keep the room feeling light and airy.

The idea is that the floor is light, the units and worktops are dark and then the walls are light again.

The kitchen fitters arrived this morning to fit our new kitchen. One, not so small, snag – they had brought the wrong kitchen !!!

They had some plans which were dated November but after a couple of redesigns the correct version of the plan is dated March.

I received a phone call a chap back in the office apologising for the mistake but said he had never seen these March plans and that it is a completely new design and that they would have build us a new kitchen from scratch as the old units would not fit into the new design.

We now have a date for the kitchen to be fitted as 12th July.

Whilst this is a blow it does at least give us a couple more weeks to get the kitchen finished as it the walls still need to be painted, the floor tiled and the downlights fitted into the ceiling.

The kitchen is now finally plastered.

In honour of this momentous occasion I have taken some before and after pics.

Our plasterer turned up at 7.50am this morning so he should have plenty of time to get ALL the plastering finished.

This is such a relief as we were beginning to panic a bit. At least now there should be just enough time for the plaster to dry out and for us to get a couple of coats of paint on it before the kitchen is fitted this monday.

We have had a good weekend kitchen wise.
We have finished sorting out all the electrics except for those on the sink wall. This means all the walls can be plastered apart from this one.

My dad is hoping to have this wall sorted today.

Our plasterer turned up on Sunday and has done a fantastic job so far. He has plastered the ceiling and the end wall where the chimney breast used to be. He has also done the alcove where we will be putting our fridge freezer.

He is coming back either today or tomorrow to finshed the remaining walls.

We also managed to sort out the piperwork for the new radiator over the weekend so we are almost at the stage of all that needs sorting before the kitchen is fitted next Monday is getting it all painted.

I will take some pics tonight so you can see how it is going.

Hopefully things are now looking up with regards to the kitchen.
Yesterday my dad managed to work out how the kitchen is currently wired up – he said this makes it a lot easier as he now knows what needs doing to get all the new plugs wired into the circuit.

My dad has also been able to get hold of the plasterer who has said he will come Sunday morning to get the room plastered. This means that we will be able to spend next week getting it painted and the news sockets fitted.

I doubt that we will be able to get the floor tiled prior to the kitchen being fitted but this won’t be the end of the world as the kitchen fitters have said they don’t mind popping back once it’s tiled to adjust the plinths.

Only one week and 2 days to go !!! Of course as soon as it’s all done (including getting the floor tiled) I’ll take plenty of pics to show you the finished product.
